LASTMA, ARMY AGREE TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP ON TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Nigerian Army officials have come together to enhance their collaboration in traffic management within Lagos State. This decision was reached during a visit by officials from the 9th Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army, led by Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, to the LASTMA headquarters.

Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the General Manager of LASTMA, expressed his gratitude for the visit and highlighted the significance of the meeting at the Lastma Headquarters in Oshodi. He addressed a recent incident involving a confrontation between a Lastma officer and a soldier, emphasizing the strong bond between the two agencies. Oreagba assured that Lastma would continue to depend on the ongoing support from the Nigerian Army and other security bodies across the state.

Oreagba emphasized that the relationship's integrity would be maintained and new avenues for communication explored to prevent future occurrences. He stressed, "We won't abuse the relationship nor take the cordiality and warm friendliness which has existed over the years between the Army and Lastma for granted."

Brigadier-General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, the Commander of the 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, underlined the importance of unity among security agencies to prevent the rise of negative elements. He called for enhanced cooperation and collaboration among government bodies, including Lastma. Adetuyi commended Lastma officials for their commendable daily efforts and assured continued support from the Nigerian Army's 9th Brigade Command to ensure the safety of traffic managers during their duties.

The joint effort between LASTMA and the Nigerian Army aims to improve traffic management and maintain a secure environment in Lagos State. This renewed partnership seeks to prevent conflicts, promote effective communication channels, and ensure the safety and well-being of traffic management personnel. Through this strengthened collaboration, both agencies strive to create a more organized and harmonious traffic management system for the benefit of the people of Lagos State.
