According to the Mayoress during the distribution, this initiative was done with the intention to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the council's operations while providing necessary resources to support our Executive members in their roles. In a thoughtful initiative aimed at supporting the indigent residents of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, Mayor Hon Dele Osinowo took action by distributing Food Palliative and Free BRT Cowry Cards. This effort sought to alleviate the financial burden brought about by the removal of fuel subsidies and complemented the ongoing BRT Bus Fare Reduction introduced by Governor Sanwo-olu.  During the distribution event held at the Council Headquarters, Mayor Dele Osinowo emphasized that the distribution of 10,000 Naira Credited BRT Cowry Cards to the LCDA staff was designed to counterbalance the increased transit fares resulting from the subsidy removal.  The Intensive Free Eye Care Screening Event Theme: Together for better vision, was organized by the Mayoress of Ikosi Isheri LCDA in collaboration with Julby Health Concern Initiative was held today, at Maidan Primary Health Centre, Mile12, with the objective of providing the residents of Ikosi Isheri LCDA and its environs with access to comprehensive eye examinations and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good eye health.  Lagos State is taking strategic measures to bridge skill gaps within the housing sector by introducing an extensive training initiative aimed at enhancing the abilities of artisans and craftsmen in the industry. This initiative, named the "Master Craftsman Training Programme," is scheduled to commence on August 19, 2023, in the Alimosho and Ikorodu Local Government Areas. This pledge was conveyed by Mr. Kamar Owodiran Olowoshago, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, during a media briefing at the State Secretariat in Alausa.   The organized labor leadership reportedly stormed out of the scheduled meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which was convened by the Presidential Steering Committee on subsidy palliatives. Earlier, the Steering Committee had convened with a government delegation on Wednesday, during which both parties agreed to reconvene on Friday to receive updates from three subcommittees tasked with addressing various demands. The government established the Steering Committee to devise measures that would mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on workers. According to Vanguard, Joe Ajaero, the President of the NLC, led his delegation to the Chief of Staff's office, the designated meeting venue, around 5pm on Friday, but they quickly exited the villa. However, the meeting failed to proceed due to an alleged lack of quorum, as some Steering Committee members claimed. 9th of August, 2023 An unfortunate and fatal accident occurred today on the Eko Bridge, heading towards the Alaka area of Lagos, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving five individuals seriously injured. Responding swiftly to the incident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) collaborated with various emergency responders to provide immediate assistance at the scene. Mr. Akinde Olusola, also known as 'Zebra', of LASTMA Zone 3 Iponri, led the rescue efforts and confirmed the distressing outcome of the accident. The collision involved a total of six vehicles, including a heavily loaded 'MAC' truck bearing the registration number T-1501 LA. The preliminary investigation suggests that the truck was traveling at a high speed and collided with five other vehicles, including a commercial mini bus (locally known as a 'Korope'), due to brake failure. Today, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA held a Press briefing in response to the rumours spread online: in which the writer claimed that the Mayoress imposed Aso-Ebi for her upcoming birthday on the council staffs. In response to the allegations, the Mayoress vehemently refuted these claims. According to her, the news was sponsored by haters of good governance.
