Ojodu LCDA Council Mayor Hon Odunmbaku Launches National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) program for the residence: Protecting Our Children's Future




The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Honorable Segun Odunmbaku took a momentous step toward a sustainable development goals (SDG3-health and wellbeing) by inaugurating the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) program at the Ogba Primary Health Center. This marked the beginning of a crucial vaccination campaign aimed at safeguarding the children of Ojodu LCDA and its neighboring areas from debilitating diseases such as polio.

During the flag-off ceremony, the Council Mayor ably represented by the Supervisor for Health, Honorable Seye Oyekan, emphasized the significance of this event in the ongoing battle against diseases that threaten the well-being of infants. It symbolized the united commitment of the community to foster a healthier and safer environment for the forthcoming generations in Ojodu LCDA.

Honorable Seye Oyekan highlighted the vital role of the dedicated team of vaccinators who would embark on a door-to-door mission, ensuring that every eligible child, who may have missed routine immunizations, receives the essential polio vaccine. This grassroots approach was deemed instrumental in bridging the immunization gap and shielding children from the devastating impacts of polio.

In his address, Honorable Segun Odunmbaku urged all residents to seize this opportunity and ensure that their children, aged zero to 59 months (0-5 years), receive these crucial immunizations. He underscored the collective responsibility of the community in safeguarding the health and future of its youngest members.

The event also witnessed the presence of Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos Health District VI, represented by Dr. Tawak from DPRS Health District VI, who encouraged nursing mothers to fortify their children's immune systems against polio and other deadly diseases. Health educators and various partners reiterated the importance of this message. Community leaders, political stalwarts, and representatives from organizations such as Sydani Group, LIO, and CCO, along with other dedicated health workers, were also in attendance, demonstrating their support for this crucial initiative.

This ceremony marked a significant step forward in the collective effort to ensure the health and well-being of the youngest members of the Ojodu LCDA community, paving the way for a brighter and healthier future
