LASWA Swift Rescue and Response: Ikorodu Ferry Terminal Fire Incident Ensures Safety of All Passengers

A commercial boat at the Ikorodu ferry terminal in Lagos caught fire on Thursday, sparked by an electrical issue during engine ignition while the captain and deckhand were refueling.

In response to the incident, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) reported that all passengers on board were successfully rescued. The combined efforts of Ikorodu Ferry Terminal Staff, LASWA officials, and other boat operators present at the scene played a crucial role in the rescue mission.

The inferno was swiftly extinguished by the rescue team using fire extinguishers from the terminal hall. Medical personnel at the jetty attended to the affected passengers, allowing some to continue their journey, while others had to return home.

Currently, some of the passengers impacted by the incident are cooperating with LASWA, providing additional information to further investigate this unfortunate occurrence.
