The Maiden Edition of the Mayoress Cup 2023, was concluded in style today at Expressway Primary School, Ikosi. This competition symbolized the culmination of an exciting and fiercely contested football tournament. The final match saw Ward D (Orile Ikosi) pitted against Ward E (Orile Ketu) in a thrilling battle of skills, teamwork, and determination.

The Chief Host of the tournament,Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, who is also the Mayoress of Ikosi Isheri LCDA, addressed the press after the tournament and expressed her satisfaction with the event's success. She highlighted the tournament's significance in uniting the community's youth at the grassroots level and assured the public of more such programs to foster peaceful coexistence among the community's youths.

Among the prominent personalities in attendance were:

1. Honorable Commissioner for information and strategy Lagos State, Hon Gbenga Omotosho (ably represented by Mr Kayode Oyekanmi Director of Strategy Centre, Lagos state ministry of information and strategy )

4. APC Lagos State Youth Leader, Dr. Seriki Muritala

5. SSA to the governor of Lagos State on Sport, Hon Damilare Orimoloye

7. Coach Chinedu (manager of Super Eagle Striker, Victor Osihmen)

The final match was fiercely contested, with Ward E (Orile Ketu) emerging as the winner of the Mayoress Cup 2023, while Ward D (Orile Ikosi) took the 1st Runner-up position. The Mayoress FC secured the third-place position.

Several awards were also presented to individuals and teams in various categories:

1. Fair Play Award - Shangisha Magodo (Ward B)

2. Best Defender - Alausa Qudus (Ward C)

3. Best Goalkeeper - Rasaq Kehinde (Mayoress FC)

4. Highest Goal Scorer - Dolapo Abdusalam (Ward E)

5. Best Player of the Tournament - Dolapo Abdusalam (Ward E)

6. Best Coach - Prince Richard


The Mayoress Cup 2023 not only showcased exceptional football talent but also served as a platform for community cohesion and unity. The event's success reflects the dedication of the community to promote peaceful coexistence among its youth, and it undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all who attended.

WHO IS KAFILAT OGBARA

  Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara was born to Alhaji and Alhaja M. Ade. Kasumu’s family in Aiyepe Ogun State. She attended Adrao International School in Victoria Island and Federal Home Science PSchool Ikoyi, Lagos respectively. Her Secondary School Education was at Federal Government Girls College Langtang, Plateau State. Who's The Mayoress Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada

  Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada was born into the blessed family of the late Alhaji Olatunji Raheem Bada and the late Chief Mrs. Afolakemi Bada (JP) in Odogbolu, Ogun State, on December 28th, 1973. She attended Muslim Primary School in Odogbolu, followed by Odogbolu Grammar School, and completed her education at Ajao Estate High School in Anthony Village, Lagos. She pursued her diploma in Marketing at Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, and later earned her B.Sc. honors in Geography and Planning from Lagos State University, Ojo.
