Ijede LCDA Council Boss Ignites Dreams: Empowering 300+ Youths with Skills and Start-up Kits

 












Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has made a significant stride in addressing unemployment by empowering more than 300 youths through its Vocational Center. The initiative, aimed at fostering sustainable livelihoods, provided valuable skills and start-up kits to the beneficiaries, marking a crucial step in combating unemployment within the community.

Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, during her speech, lauded the Vocational Center, established in 2015, as a beacon of hope for empowering youths with skills ensuring a fulfilling livelihood. The recent graduation ceremony saw 356 students equipped with diverse skills in areas such as Fashion Designing, Hairdressing, Catering, Tiling, and more. Additionally, an Entrepreneurship Department complemented their training, preparing them to manage businesses effectively.

Many of the graduates from the years 2022 and 2023 have already applied their acquired knowledge, benefitting not only their personal growth but also contributing to their families. Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba expressed gratitude to the instructors and supervisors for their pivotal role in shaping the students' skills.

Mrs. Yewande Gbonegun, Head of Department for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) in Ijede LCDA, highlighted the diverse impact of the empowerment courses. Participants not only gained theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, creating essentials like insecticides, toiletries, and more. She commended the unwavering support of Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba in allocating funds for the benefit of deserving individuals.


Mrs. Akintola Adebimpe, the Council Manager, stressed the program's role in reducing unemployment and ensuring effective utilization of the graduates' acquired skills. She expressed confidence that the empowered youths would become breadwinners in their families, contributing to the overall development of the council.


Hon. Abisola Abari, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, emphasized the careful selection of empowered youths based on their dedication to the training program. Notable figures like HON. Adewale Ajala and Hon. Hassan Adefarasin provided valuable advice to the graduates, urging them to utilize their skills to create job opportunities and shape the future of Ijede LCDA.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Hon. Femi Kabir, Vice Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Representative of Obateru of Egbin Kingdom High Chief Lateef Saminu, Hon. Fahm, CDC Chairman Hon. Kehinde Fesomu, Mr. Sodiq Mabeko Council Treasurer, Supervisors, Councillors, and Management staff.

WHO IS KAFILAT OGBARA

  Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara was born to Alhaji and Alhaja M. Ade. Kasumu’s family in Aiyepe Ogun State.
