Remo Star Ladies Secure Victory Against Edo Queens FC in NWFL Group B Match week 5 Clash









 The Nigeria Women's Football League witnessed intense action, particularly in the eventful month of December 2023. In a Group B Match of the Matchweek 5 at Remo Stadium in Ikenne on December 13th, 2023, Remo Star Ladies faced off against the table-topping Edo Queens FC.

The fans at Remo Stadium were treated to a thrilling encounter as both teams battled for crucial points that could significantly impact their positions in the NWFL Group B standings.

The home team, Remo Star Ladies, emerged victorious at the final whistle, securing a 2-0 win against Edo Queens FC. 

Head coach of Remo Star Ladies, Coach Wemimo Mathew, who's formerly in charge of Edo Queens FC and a former Super Falcon player, expressed her excitement about the team's performance. She highlighted the importance of the three points for the team in the competition, emphasizing that it marked the first time the team is scoring 2 goals in the competition and three points in Group B.

Coach Wemimo Mathew attributed the team's success to their evolving dynamics, noting that the players were gradually understanding each other's game, despite being a relatively new team. She commended the two goals scored in the first half, one by Innocent Patricia and another by Akudo Ognonna, and reassured fans of the team's continued improvement.

Expressing gratitude to the fans for their support, Coach Wemimo Mathew promised a better performance in upcoming matches, underscoring the team's determination to progress despite challenges in acquiring outstanding players.

In a summary of Matchweek 5, Edo Queens FC now holds the second position in Group B with 9 points from 5 matches (3 wins, 2 losses), sharing the same point total with the group leader, Bayelsa Queens, but with a single-goal difference. Remo Star Ladies have climbed to the 5th position on the Group B table, securing 1 win, 3 draws, and 1 loss in 5 matches, giving them an edge over Delta Queens, who currently sit in 6th place.
