The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo has tasked residents and road users of the newly-constructed Aremu Street, Okota to take ownership of the road.

Olasoju re-echoed this call today when he made an early morning visit to the street. The council boss who was accompanied by members of his cabinet led by the secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Sikiru Adeshina expressed satisfaction over the standard of the interlocked-road as he charged the residents and road users to take outright ownership and ensure proper maintenance of the facility as he cautioned them against total closure of gates and prevention of thoroughfare especially during working hours.

His words: “This infrastructure is yet another testament to our sworn commitment to fulfilling our campaign promises as contained in our IsoloOfOurDreams agenda. Road construction plays a leading developmental role in any given society and we are proud to have expended substantial efforts on putting our roads in better shape. We will not stop at this as we are committed to ensuring that every area feels our magical wand and enjoy even dividends of democracy,” Olasoju said.

Speaking further, Olasoju urged the residents to justify the efforts expended on the project by ensuring adequate maintenance of the road as he frowned at shop extension over drainage channel and environmental negligence.

“My appeal to the CDA, the entire residents and road users of this road is to ensure its sustained maintenance. Having shops extended over drainage channel and to the road does not speak well. The drainage channel needs to be adequately taken care of to ensure free flow of drains and proactively prevent flooding. We call on you justify and encourage our efforts,” Olasoju added.

The council boss had on his entourage the councillor representing Akinbaye Ward, Hon. Idris Amusa as well as the Chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) Hon. Adesegun Olatunde who gave the assurance that the committee will work hand-in-hand with the CDA to keep the road in good condition.
