Governor Sanwo-Olu Hands Over New Apartments to Magistrates in Honour of Judicial Service









Lagos, May 2, 2025 — In a move that reinforces his administration’s commitment to institutional support and the welfare of public officers, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, CON, today handed over two blocks of newly built 3-bedroom apartments to magistrates and legal counsels serving in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.

The housing units, located in a serene government estate, were formally commissioned and presented to the beneficiaries as part of the administration’s efforts to provide a dignified and enabling environment for judicial officers.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the pivotal role magistrates play in the administration of justice, describing them as the first contact point for many citizens seeking legal redress.

“Their rulings impact lives, influence peace in our neighbourhoods, and shape public trust in the legal system,” the Governor said. “That’s why it’s so important to provide them with the comfort, dignity, and independence they deserve.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the housing initiative was a fulfillment of a promise made, aimed at not only improving welfare but also reducing the potential for undue influence in judicial processes. He reaffirmed his administration’s respect for the doctrine of separation of powers, adding that all arms of government are united in one ultimate goal—serving the people of Lagos State.

“We will continue to support our judiciary because when we care for those who uphold justice, we strengthen the very foundation of our society,” the Governor stated.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Lagos State Judiciary, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, members of the executive council, and invited stakeholders.
