A major wave of hope is about to sweep across the Greater Kosofe axis as the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation (MDOF) sets the stage for a transformative healthcare intervention designed to uplift vulnerable residents and strengthen community wellbeing.

In partnership with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), the foundation is preparing to roll out free health insurance coverage for 2,000 residents — a timely and compassionate initiative that promises to expand medical access for those who need it most.

This is not just another programme.
It is a lifeline
A bridge to affordable healthcare…
A demonstration of what it means when leadership places humanity at the center.

A 3-Day Health Mission Set to Sweep Across Greater Kosofe

The upcoming intervention will hold across the three councils under the Greater Kosofe bloc, ensuring that no community is left out:

📅 16 December — Ikosi–Isheri LCDA

Venue: Ikosi–Isheri LCDA Headquarters

📅 17 December — Kosofe Local Government

Venue: Kosofe LG Headquarters

📅 18 December — Agboyi-Ketu LCDA

Venue: Ketu PHC, Akintan Street, Mascara

Residents across the axis are already expressing anticipation, as the initiative promises to lift financial burdens and improve access to essential medical services.

Eligibility: Who Can Benefit?

The programme is open to all residents across Greater Kosofe — Ikosi–Isheri LCDA, Kosofe LG, and Agboyi-Ketu LCDA — who possess a valid LASSRA identity card.

With this health insurance, beneficiaries will gain access to quality primary and secondary healthcare without the burden of out-of-pocket payment.
This is inclusiveness in action.
This is community empowerment.

A Mission Driven by Compassion and Equity

According to MDOF, this health intervention reflects its core vision:
ensuring that no resident is left behind in the pursuit of good health and overall wellbeing.

By bridging the healthcare gap among underserved groups, the foundation is reaffirming that quality healthcare is not a luxury, but a right that every citizen deserves.

Story of Supremacy: Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo

I say to both revered fathers, KABIYEESI O!!! (As usual, with my chest flat on the floor). Both of them are great kings of Yoruba land and none should ever be disparaged!. That being said, we need to clear the air on this superiority issue being bandied around by a lot of people without the sense of history. Some say The Alaafin is the supreme-most king in Yoruba land, while others say it is the Ooni. I would try to give an abridged version of the history of the two and let you, the YoruByte reader make your own decision. So, it is an agreed fact that the progenitor of the Yoruba race is Oduduwa. Fact undisputed! It also known that Oduduwa had only one child, Okanbi. Fact Unchallenged! Furthermore, It is universally agreed that Okanbi had seven children, Fact Unc...
