Ramadan Lecture: Lagos East Arewa Community Commends Senator Abiru, Rallies Support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

As the train of the Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru Ramadan Lecture Series, across Lagos East Senatorial district, reached Mile 12, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, members of the Arewa community in the district, under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Shehu Jibrin (Sampam), on Sunday commended Senator Adetokunbo Abiru for his inclusive leadership and engagement with diverse communities, as they gathered for a Ramadan lecture sponsored by the lawmaker. 

The well attended Tafsir, which brought together community and political  leaders, Islamic scholars and other stakeholders, provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the spiritual significance of Ramadan and political leadership in the country, applauding  the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Senator Abiru, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, said the Ramadan period offers a valuable opportunity for reflection, compassion and renewed commitment to service and community development.

He described the annual lecture as a platform for strengthening spiritual values while also promoting dialogue on issues affecting society. According to the senator, Ramadan encourages believers to embrace humility, generosity and unity , values that are equally important in leadership and nation building. Abiru commended members of the Arewa community for their contributions to the growth and prosperity of Lagos State.

Abiru also used the occasion to highlight the policy direction of the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has stabilised the economy, expanded infrastructure and created opportunities for Nigerians. According to him, while economic reforms may present temporary challenges, they are necessary steps toward building a resilient economy capable of delivering long-term benefits for citizens.

The Chairman Mile 12 International Market and Director General, South West Arewa Community Renewed Hope Agenda for Asiwaju 2027, Alhaji Shehu Usman Sampam, expressed appreciation to the senator for hosting the Ramadan lecture and for maintaining open engagement with  the Arewa community. He described Abiru as a leader who values inclusiveness and respects the diversity of his constituents.

Islamic scholars at the event, led by the Chief Imam of Mile 12, International Market, Sheikh Muhammed Abubakar, delivered sermons highlighting the moral lessons of Ramadan, urging Muslims to embody the values of patience, generosity and integrity in both personal and public life. The scholars noted that good leadership and responsible citizenship are rooted in ethical values that emphasise justice, fairness and compassion.
